1938
Part of the so-called Big Four model range, the Adelphi had a four-cylinder engine which could propel it to an impressive top speed of 90mph. The gearbox had dual overdrive and that meant that it had five gear ratios in all and could cruise at high speed with ease. The Adelphi was one of the best saloons of the 1930s but never really got the recognition it deserved. Hydraulic dampers on the suspension and 25-inch Girling brakes helped it to handle and stop very effectively.
