Carawagons were Land Rover-based camper conversions manufactured by RJ Searle Ltd of Sunbury-onThames. The manufacturer developed a unique wood and metal fold-up roof that provided six feet, two inches of head space at the centre top, which provided the Carawagon with its signature look, although not all models were equipped with this feature. Another Carawagon signature accessory was a rear tent or awning with an integral slide-out frame, a very popular option. The slide-out frame was made of metal tubing that slid back into a slightly larger tubing for storage.
