All Change

“All Change” may be words that we associate with our train arriving at its destination. Love it or loathe it, change for the better or change for the worse, is something that we all encounter in our daily lives. Change can be an opportunity to introduce fresh, new ideas along with renewed enthusiasm to aspire to great new goals. Change can also result in hard-earned experience and wisdom being overlooked in favour of perceived fashionable progress.

Since the last post on this blog back in October 2024, there has been a lot of change in the museum. Some familiar faces have moved on to retirement or redundancy, others have taken or will be taking their places.

The cottages adjoining the museum have been given a fresh lease of life with a major refurbishment. The museum shop, shown below, is now larger and completely refreshed. The door from the shop via the Metropolitan Police box – better known by most visitors as the door to Dr Who’s TARDIS  (but we can’t use those names as both Dr Who and TARDIS are the copyright of the BBC), remains as the entry to the seven museum galleries.

Even the appearance of this blog has changed. All the previous content since 2014 is still present, but it has become more tightly integrated with the museum website, saving the cost of separately hosting the blog. Visitors to the previous website:

Historically, blog posts produced by Brum or about Brum, such as his significant birthday in September 2021, have produced a peak in the number of views. The Austin Severn topic is always popular, especially during the 100th anniversary year in 2022.

Watch out for more posts on both topics as the year moves on plus a good deal more. It was a Frenchman who said, “the more things change, the more they stay the same” (although I guess he said it in French*). Perhaps that is true of this blog.
